The heavy and hard wood of the common ash (Fraxinus Excelsior) has favorable strength properties. Its tensile strength and bending strength exceed those of oak. It is elastic, abrasion-resistant and tougher than most other domestic wood species due to its high impact strength.
Ash wood is used as solid wood for furniture and molded parts (balls, furniture legs) and in bent form for seating furniture. Ash wood is used in particular when high demands are placed on strength, toughness and elasticity, e.g. for tool handles.
Wood is a natural material and may therefore have knots or slight impurities and discoloration.
